Who we are

BiteText operates the SMS nutrition tracking service, the website at bitetext.com, and the management and coach portals. Questions about this policy: hello@bitetext.com.

What we collect

Account details: your email address (from Google sign-in or an emailed magic link) and the mobile number you register.

Content you text us: meal photos and text descriptions, plus the commands you send such as your calorie target.

Data we generate: the nutrition estimates for each entry (calories, protein, carbs, fat), daily totals, and a record of the messages sent between you and BiteText.

Billing details handled by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. We also collect standard technical logs when you use the website or portal.

How we use it

To generate your nutrition estimates, save your entries, reply to your texts, send occasional check-in reminders, show your history in the portal, count your free analyses, process your subscription, provide support, and keep the Service secure.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that help us operate: our SMS carrier (Twilio) to send and receive your messages, the AI model provider that analyses your meal photos and descriptions, our cloud hosting and database provider, our email provider, and Stripe for payments.

How the AI provider handles your photos: your photo and any description are sent to the model provider through a business API only to produce that one estimate. Providers may hold a copy for a short period for abuse and security monitoring before deletion, as described in their own terms. If we ever change providers or these terms, we will update this policy.

If you accept an invitation from a coach, that coach can see your meal entries and photos, your calorie/macro targets, subscription status, and your message history with BiteText, including entries from before the invitation. Nothing is shared until you review the consent screen naming those fields and accept. You can revoke a coach's access at any time in the portal or by emailing hello@bitetext.com; it takes effect immediately, though a coach may still hold notes or exports made while access was active.

We do not sell your personal information or your photos, and we do not share your mobile number for marketing.

Health and wellness data

Some of what you send us — meal photos and calorie targets — describes your health and wellness. We treat it as sensitive: it is used only to run the Service for you, it is never sold, and it is never used for advertising.

BiteText is a consumer wellness tool. We are not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA covered entity, and your entries are not medical records. Depending on where you live, consumer health privacy laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act may give you extra rights over this data, including rights to access, delete and withdraw consent. Email hello@bitetext.com to exercise any of them and we will honour the request regardless of your state.

Retention and deletion

Meal photos are kept in private storage that only you, and any coach you have accepted, can access. Entries stay in your portal until you delete them. Deleting your account removes your entries and photos from active systems within 30 days, except where we must keep records for legal or accounting reasons.

Your choices

Text STOP to stop messages, or START to resume. Text EXPORT to get a CSV of your own data. Delete individual entries or your whole account in the portal. Email hello@bitetext.com to request a copy of your data, ask us to delete it, or ask a privacy question.

Children

BiteText is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
